Some tips for using the Site

Navigation tips

  1. Clicking anywhere on the logo at the top will take you back to the Home page.
  2. Clicking on any Underscored Blue  item will open that link up. Most links refer to pages on this site and they will open in the center window of the site.

    1. There are some links that point to sites outside of this site and they will replace this site in your browser window if you just click on them. If this happens the way back to this site is to hit the BACK BUTTON at the top of your browser.
    2. An alternative is to right click on the link and the select to open the link in a new window or a new tab. That choice will depend on the browser you are using. If you choose a new tab or window when you close that new selection you will be back on this site.

   Calendar Tips

  1. The calendar can be accessed in two ways. On the home page the current month is always at the bottom of the page. When you look at that calendar view you will see that there are several colors displayed. The only color that we care about at the moment is the Yellow days, those days have events scheduled. You can click on the day number for one of those days and it will bring up the calendar/day view. At this point you will be able to a trimmed view of the events for that day. You can then click on the title of the event or on the read more button at the bottom to open up the event in a page view and see the whole document.
  2. The second way to view the calendar is to click on the SEMC Calendar
at the top of the Announcements block on the left. This link will bring up a whole year view of the calendar. From here you can click on either one of the yellow days or on the link at the top of each month to bring up other views.
  3. When you are in the Month View with a full month displayed there will be a Legend displayed at the bottom of the page to tell you that the event colors mean. This Legend seem to change depending on what events are on the calendar so the only way to know what the colors mean is to look at it with each month view.
  4. You will find that I've put Worship Helps on the calendar to make it easy to follow the Lectionary scriptures for each Sunday  and to have an easy link to the Worship Resources for each Sunday. The Lectionary Scripture links do take you to off site information but if you explore them you will find a wealth of Bible study information. Other current event types are Retreats, Meetings and Youth Activities.

I will continue to add to this page as I think of other tips to share and I invite all of you to use this forum to share your tips and shortcuts.
